Yvonne Green

Yvonne Green (better known as “Mazie,” and fondly known as “Mecho”) passed from this life into eternal life on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

Yvonne was born in Tela Honduras, Central America, on July 9, 1939 to Mirian Dawson and Joseph Green.

In her adult life she emigrated from Honduras and became a permanent resident of Brooklyn, NY, where she obtained employment in the garment industry.

Mazie was a devoted mother and loving grandmother.  She was also considered the life-of-the-party during many family gatherings. You could always look forward to having a joyous time, great laughs, and a few teases when Mazie was around.  She enjoyed shooting the breeze and entertaining her guests while performing her rendition of the Punta.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents (Mirian & Joseph); sisters (Ismay, Alma, Isoline & Joan); brothers (Gilbert, George & Norris).

She is survived by her son, Anthony Green; daughter-in-law, Rufina Green; grandchildren, Yvonne, Anthony, Jr. & Raul Green; sister, Shirley Ifield; brother, Douglas (Eslyn) Green; and a host of nieces, nephews & very close friends. 

We thank her for the good times filled with pleasure & the many fond memories that will always be treasured.  She will be sorely missed.
