Victoria Smart- Superville Obituary

Victoria Catroleen Smart was born on July 29, 1953 to Estina Smart John and (the late) Neville Sandy on the island of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, West Indies.  Victoria resided with her mother and great-aunt Ma Ella.  At the young age of eight, Victoria emigrated to the twin republic of Trinidad & Tobago with her mother.  Spending most of her adolescent to teenage years on the island, she met and married George Sutton, resulting in the births of her first three children: Nathalie, Sheldon and Cortez.

Leaving the island of Trinidad & Tobago in the spring of 1978, she later emigrated to New York City with her children to meet her mother who had paved a way for her.  Seeking the American dream in the land of hope and opportunities, Victoria would land her first job just three months later at Kent Paper Company.  During this time, she remarried and had her last two children: Siebie and Musa.  She spent a period of seven to eight years at Kent until their ultimate closure.

Around 1986, Victoria embarked on a career in the hotel industry at the Sheraton ITT where she started in housekeeping, and worked her way up to Guest Relations.  She maintained a full-time job schedule while attending Long Island University in order to better herself. Victoria took great pride in her work, and enjoyed her time at the Sheraton up until her early retirement.

Along the journey of her life, Victoria held life-long friendships with many, and would always be there for others.  She was very outgoing and was definitely a “party goer” in her heydays.  She loved to dress and look her best for all occasions.  She was an avid cook and baker, and enjoyed all that life offered.

Vicky transitioned peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2020.  She is survived by her loving mother Estina John; her five children: Nathalie, Sheldon, Cortez, Siebie and Musa; her grandchildren: Imani, Jael, Sincere, Musa, Jr., Jamilah, Messiah, Jahfia, Salem, Akai and Majesty; her favorite uncle Wilfred; her cousins: Ruth, Roslyn and Annette; her best friends: Mary and Dana; and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry and cherish her memory in their hearts forever.
