Vernon Alexander Paul was born on October 22, 1939 in Port Morant, Berbice, Guyana.  He was the eldest of ten siblings born to (the late) Vera Lewis and Harry Paul.  He attended Roman Boys School. While there, he excelled in his studies, and upon graduation, relocated to Georgetown to attend Tutorial High School.  Once again, based on his excellent grades and upon graduation, he then entered Critcholow Labor College where he pursued studies in accounting.  Soon after graduating from Critcholow, he started to work at Pure Water Supply and then at Bookers Central Services as an Accounting Clerk.  He also worked for the Rose Hall Town Hall  as Treasurer.  Later, he joined the National Service as Staff Sergeant in charge of the Providence Bond where he worked until he migrated to the United States.

He met the love of his life, Migette Irving in 1968.  They married in September of 1979.  After joining his wife Migette, in the United States in 1980, he was then employed by ServiceMaster for many years as Regional Director for the Eastern Region.  From there, he went on to work at Interfaith Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital in Brooklyn, New York as Regional Director.  While holding down his full-time job at Interfaith and St. John’s, he also worked as Director of Security at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in Harlem, New York until his retirement.  In 2004, he relocated to Poinciana, Florida where he lived until his transition on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Always the studious fellow, Vernon enjoyed reading, following up on all sports and political news, travelling and watching his favorite television series Law & Order.  His favorite spring passion was watching the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament a/k/a “March Madness” and rooting for the best college basketball players.  Above all, his favorite activity was boxing which he requested to view to the very end.
