Ruth Drayton Obituary

Ruth Drayton, lovingly known as “Sugar”, daughter of the (late) Elisa Griffith Drayton and Leon Drayton; departed this life after a lengthy illness Monday June 21, 2021. She was born September 11,1940 in Colon Panama. Sugar was the second of six children.

Sugar attended school in Rainbow City. She migrated from Panama to NYC in 1976 where she settled in East Flatbush Brooklyn with her family.

Sugar was a wonderful sister, special friend and devoted aunt. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking and dancing. She was a caregiver to her nieces/ nephews - as well as many children residing in the neighborhood.

Her older sister (Beverly Charley) became Sugar’s primary caregiver as her condition declined.

Sugar leaves to cherish her memory siblings Beverly Charley, Sinclair Drayton, Elsie Brathwaite, Alicia Drayton, Hilma Major and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
