Patrick Lewis Charles Obituary

Patrick Lewis Charles (Pat)was the first child born to Herbert(predeceased) and Paulette Charles on September 25, 1972, in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, Patrick was a quiet and kind person, with a personality that was larger than life. His unconditional love for his family and friends was unmatched. Many of the people Patrick met throughout his life considered him family.

His family moved to Linden Blvd in 1975. During this time Patrick built a brotherhood with his lifelong friends who became his brothers.  Here is where Patrick manifested his creative love for the arts.  Patrick was an avid music lover and talented musician and producer.  One of his earliest jobs was at Record Explosion.  He was also a member of the creative collective Social Outcasts and later formed The Outabodies with friends.

Patrick and Ramona had mutual friends but they didn’t “meet” until 2004 when he began working as the doorman at the Ubiquita party.(Patrick contends they first met in 2002; Ramona can neither confirm nor deny). They shared a love of comic books, sci-fi, house music, movies, and books. They were great Spades partners and spent so much of their time laughing side by side that people began to say they looked alike. In 2014, on a trip to Las Vegas for Ramona’s mother’s birthday (also September 25), they got married at the Little White Chapel. Ramona constantly told Patrick that he was her favorite.

Patrick was a man of God. He was an active member of Radiant Church where he served as the leader of their Audio/Visual Ministry and led various semesters of bible studies.

For the past 12 years, Patrick worked for the DMV, first in Midtown and then in Jamaica Queens as a Supervisor. He was very fond of his coworkers and considered them to be family.

Patrick is survived by his wife Ramona, mother Paulette, mother-in-law Geraldine, father-in-law Eddie; sisters Lolita and Akisha; sisters-in-law Melanie, Nicole, Emmy, Monique; brothers-in-law Antoine, Eddie, Alonso, and Philip; nieces Shatara and Phoenix; nephews Logan and Parker; goddaughter Ranya; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
