Mildred Herinquez Archivald Obituary

Mildred Magdalena Henríquez Archivald was born on May 29, 1934 in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic to (the late) Jorge Enríquez and Lidia Archibald.  She was the first of three girls, including Lourdes Ina and (the late) Marcia Hortensia.  Mildred attended and completed her education at the distinguished Colegio San Esteban. She went on to continue her higher educational studies in the field of Education.  Mildred made her personal decision to accept Jesus in her heart, and faithfully attended La Fe Apostolica in San Pedro de Macoris.

At a very young age, Sis. Mildred courageously made the decision to migrate to the United States. Upon her arrival, she became a faithful member of the Apostolic Faith Church at 265 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn, New York under the leadership of (the late) Pastor Leon C. Dicks. Sis. Mildred served in a number of capacities at the church. Whether she was at the Apostolic Faith Church on Lafayette Avenue, or with the AFC saints on DeKalb Avenue under the leadership of Rev. Peterson Passade, she served with love and dedication as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board member, food service worker, a missionary, member of the Adult Choir, and would also visit the sick and elderly in nursing homes.

In addition to the various ministry gifts that Sis. Mildred shared, she was also a very talented playwright and artist.  One play that she wrote was entitled, Left Behind.  This play was so well received that she was asked to perform it at an annual camp meeting held in Century, Florida.

Sis. Mildred lived in Brooklyn for about 52 years, and never forgot her family back home.  When the opportunity presented itself, she would return home to the Dominican Republic and to Panama to visit with her family.  And whenever she had a chance, she contributed to the financial support of her relatives.

In her later years, Sis. Mildred loved to attend the Wednesday Noonday Prayer and Bible Study at her church. She also spent time at a senior citizens’ center where she developed a love for painting, and would share her beautiful artwork with her godchildren which was to their delight! Sis. Mildred faithfully served the church community, and will truly be missed.

In late May, Sis. Mildred became ill, and on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the age of 86, she departed this life to receive her eternal reward. She’s resting now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Lourdes Ina; brother-in-law Abelardo; her aunt Rina; nephews: Felix Lappots and Raisa Perez; nieces and great-nephews: Elise, Reyana, Ryan, Raidhaeliza, Sanchiro, Keisha, Xea, Delila, Xariya, Xaire, Norelizabeth, Sebastian, Jr. and Keisha; and a host of cousins, her godchildren, and her entire Apostolic Faith Church family.
