Mildred Dungee Obituary

Mildred Yvonne Dungee was born on July 22, 1941 in Greensboro, North Carolina.  She was the eldest of eight children born to (the late) Robert Adam Pennix and Theresa Adams Pennix.

Yvonne was enrolled in the North Carolina school system.  She attended James B. Dudley High School where she graduated in 1959.  During this time, she met and married James Spencer Dungee.  They have three children together.

In 1967, they moved to Brooklyn, New York.  As time went on, she met Ernest Fullard, and they have a daughter together.  Yvonne had a passion for cooking.  She followed her passion which led her to a career in cooking. 

She worked at Medgar Evers Head Start Program for twenty-five years until her retirement in 2012.  She also loved to read and do puzzle books.  She would travel every year to North Carolina to see her family.

Yvonne passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at The Brooklyn Gardens Nursing Home.  Yvonne is predeceased by her parents: Robert and Theresa Pennix; two grandsons: little Eric and Haniff; her brother Robert Pennix; her niece Danielle Pennix; and a special aunt Lois Hickman.  She is survived by four children: Rosalyn, Timothy, Rochelle and LaChelle; four sisters: Joyce, Connie, Barbara and Sharon; two brothers: Johnny and Geradous; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one son-in-law Jerome; one daughter-in-law Teesha; a very special cousin Lois Teena Jenkins; two aunts: Bicy Douglas and Mildred Clyner; her best friend Henrietta Merchant; her dear friend Monica Sapp Willis; two goddaughters: Ernestine Peppers and Domonique Sapp-Clay; one godson Kevin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
