With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life of our beloved mother Mary Glenn Smalls, who left us on May 10, 2026 at 12:23 pm, at the graceful age of 85. She was known for her pleasant, loving personality, and legendary Sunday dinners. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, cousin, cherished friend, beloved auntie and cherished grandmother. She put her heart and soul in everything she did. Her greatest legacy is the love and values she instilled in her family.
She was married to Herman Smalls 2nd. They raised five children, Francine Smalls-Ajah (Ofem), Syvetta Smalls Milliner Zachariah, Lamar Smalls, Hermina Smalls, and Herman Smalls 3rd (Anel). And six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Anijah, Tuniche, Achayen, Mary, and her beloved Zuri.
She was educated and graduated high school through S.C. School systems. She worked 30 years at Harlem Hospital Chest Clinic where she was a dedicated and cherished employee up to and thru her retirement. After retiring, she achieved the ranks of Presidential levels selling Avon throughout Manhattan and The Bronx.
She is survived by her children, Francine (Ofem), Syvetta, Herman 3rd (Anel), and Busari Raji. Her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tuniche, Achayen, Mary, and Zuri. Her beloved nieces and nephews, Debra (Nathaniel), Lou Esther, James 2nd (Marie), Don, and her Temetris (Dave). Her beloved grand nieces and grand nephews. Her beloved Sister/cuz Mary Lawrence (born on the same day). And a host of beloved cousins in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Georgia, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, NJ and NY.
