Mabel Bowen

Mabel Bowen was born March 30, 1934 in Fairfield, South Carolina to the parents Sarah Brice and Joe Evans. She was the wife of deceased Lester C. Bowen and mother to Lester Bowen and Renee Philip. She was the perfect loving mother and wife. She was a stay home mom until we reach High School. She kept us very active in cultural events and was always a part of our educational growth. She was active in her church and loved being a Boy Scout den mother. She loved jumping double Dutch with the neighborhood kids and me. She then branched off and earned her college degree at Long Island University in Special education. She worked as a special education teacher for many years which she retired from.

My mother loved life and helping other people. She had that southern hospitality rearing where her door and food was welcomed to all. She enjoyed cooking and traveling and everyone loved her fried chicken we would sneak in her kitchen and steal the chicken while she wasn’t looking. She was loved by everyone and will be missed greatly. Her spirit will always be surrounding us.

She had one brother Clarence Duncan Jr. who is deceased. She leaves behind 2 children, 6 grandchildren Deion, Carlos, Lana, Lester Jr and Michelle, 4 great grands Kiyomi, Jade, Alliyah and Ariana a daughter in-law Mikiko and a lot of cousins and friends. Miss u mom.
