Lacy Harold Bethea Obituary

Lacy Harold Bethea, Jr., affectionately known as “Harry O”, was born March 5th, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the middle son of (the late) Lacy, Sr. and Shirley Bethea.  Harry always knew how to make people laugh and smile even if they didn’t intend to. He lit up every room he walked into and always left a special mark.

Harry’s formal education began at St. James Catholic School from grades 1 to 8.  He then attended Automotive High School.

Harry met and married Lakeema Dolphin -- the love of his life.  After years of marriage, Lakeema passed away in 2000, leaving him heartbroken, devastated and a widower.

Throughout his life, Harry had several jobs that included working at Toys ’R Us, working for maintenance and the United States Postal Service.  He was proud to be a postal mail carrier. He enjoyed meeting different people on his routes.  “Thru rain, sleet or snow” was his “go-to” motto.

Harry will be greatly missed by all whose hearts he touched. He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings: Daren Bethea, Mark Bethea and Lori Ann (Bethea) Samuda.  Also feeling the loss are Harry’s niece and five nephews: Daren Bethea, II, Christopher Bethea, Bryan Bethea, Mark Bethea, Rodney James Samuda and Neesha Samuda; his brother-in-law Rodney Samuda; his sister-in-law Juanita Bethea; his aunt Pamela Winfield; his close friends: George Fullard and John Mack; as well as a host of cousins, other family members, friends and neighbors.
