Born on January 10, 1960, in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica, to Jasmine and Gladstone, Kaceta was the eldest daughter in a family of eight sisters and one older brother. Raised for a time by her grandmother, Sally attended Bleauwearie Primary School, and began her spiritual journey at Bath Mountain Church of God. Later, when her family relocated to Lawrence Tavern, she attended Oberlin High School, where her love for singing found expression in the school choir. Music, like ministry, would remain close to her heart throughout her life.
Kaceta was a caregiver long before she carried the title, as she radiated a nurturing spirit from a young age. She lovingly postponed her own dreams of becoming a nurse to care for her sister Jacqueline after a life-altering surgery. She gave of herself fully, selflessly, and unconditionally-a trait that would define her throughout her life.
Though life took a different turn, it opened another path. In 1990, Sally joined the “Port Authority Training Program” and became a “Port Security Officer”,a career that changed everything. Her work at Norman Manley Airport was not just a job-it was a calling. She took immense pride in her responsibilities, ensuring the safety of her country’s borders. Quickly promoted to Supervisor, Sally led with integrity, compassion, and deep respect for those under her care. She not only listened to her team but invested in them—literally—helping many to apply for U.S. visas, even when repayment wasn’t guaranteed. She gave without expectation, because giving was simply who she was.
Harbour View became her home, a stone’s throw from her job and a place where many found refuge—in every sense. Even stranded travelers were often sent to stay with her when they missed flights and had nowhere else to go. That was Sally: always opening her door, her heart, and her hands.
On her days off, she became a true entrepreneur—traveling to Panama, Grand Cayman, and Curaçao to buy clothes and household goods to sell. She had a knack for business, a passion for baking, and a gift for bringing joy. Her Christmas and wedding cakes were legendary, and her generosity even more so.
In 2006, Sally began a new chapter. She relocated to “Brooklyn, NY”, where she worked as a certified HHA & CNA, she later met and married her soulmate, “Roberto Eloi”. They built a beautiful life together, centered in love and faith. Sally joined ‘Classon Church of God”, where she was baptized and served passionately in multiple ministries.
She was lovingly known as the “Rally Queen”, and she truly wore many hats—both figuratively and literally, showcasing her fabulous style on Sundays.
She was active in the church where she served as an Usher, a member of the Choir, in the “Women’s Ministry”, Hospitality Committee and Pantry Program, and led both Saturday morning prayers and our family’s cherished Sunday morning devotions via WhatsApp. Her voice was a spiritual anchor, her faith unwavering. No matter where in the world she was—on a cruise, on a flight, or on the road—she would remind us: “Always put God first.”
Sally loved to travel and to laugh, to serve and to sing. She carried joy like sunlight—warm, radiant, and life-giving. Her love knew no borders. Her spirit had no limits. Her heart had no bounds.
Today, we feel the weight of her absence deeply. A pillar has been removed from our family, the Church, and the community. And yet, her legacy remains rooted in every life she touched. As we say our final goodbyes, may we carry forward her legacy of love, her spirit of compassion, and her zest for life. Farewell, sweet Sally. Your laughter, your light, and your love will echo through the corridors of our hearts forever. We take comfort in knowing that you now rest in the eternal embrace of God, where love never ends, and joy is everlasting.
You leave behind Roberto (deployed), seven sisters Paula, Joan, Ingrid, Azra, Claudia, Stephane and Jamellia (who was like a daughter to you), nephews Andre, Jovaun, Kemar, Vashaun, Seth, Zachary, Jared, niece Kenyah, grand-nephews Alexander, Onix, grand-nieces Abigail, Sapphire,& Giana, brothers-in-law Ephraim, Ricardo, Lenox, and John, niece-in-law Jessica, Aunts, Verona & Shirley and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish your memory.
