John Hickman Obituary

John Frederick Hickman (also known as Champ) was born in Brooklyn, New York to (the late) Rev. John R. Hickman & Mother Sarah A. Hickman on June 24, 1958.  John was the oldest of three siblings, Chynita E. Hickman and Kevin F. Hickman (deceased) and was raised in a Christian home.

John was educated in the New York City Public School system and continued his education at Job Corps.  During his younger years, John loved to play basketball and football.

John worked as a temp for Human Resources Administration for many years and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his co-workers.  He was a very friendly person and would leave a lasting impression on people wherever he went.  John's hobbies were telling stories to anyone who would listen, watching TV, listening to music, and reading.  John would often read the Bible to his mother and study Sunday school lessons with his cousin Robin and others. John attended the Antioch Church of God in Christ where he assisted with the custodial functions.

John spent many years living life on his own, but he surrendered his life to the Lord before he left this earth. John loved God, his family, friends, and always kept a positive attitude about every situation.  He believed in the Power of Prayer and declared the Word - "He will never leave me nor forsake me."   In the wee hour of the morning, God called John home and he peacefully slipped away.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his sister, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins, friends and Church family. Special care friends, Lenore Tucker, and Wyndell.

"Sleep on and take your rest, we loved you John,

but GOD loved you best.  Rest in Peace!
