Good morning, family and friends.

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of Jean Clio Liautaud, affectionately known to all of us as “LOU”. While our hearts are heavy with grief, they are also full of gratitude for having known a man whose life was rich with love, laughter, friendship, and devotion to his family.

Lou was born on April 9, 1953, in Croix-Des-Bouquets, Haiti, a son of late Villevalex Antoine & Marie Antoinette Andree Dupiton Liautaud. and throughout his 73 years, he left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a husband, a devoted father of four, a loyal friend, and a man who valued the relationships he built throughout his life.

One of Lou’s greatest joys was his family that he created with his former wife Magalie Derose Liautaud. His children were his pride and joy, and he loved each of them deeply. He is survived by his sons Marvin Antoine Liautaud, Jean Clio II Liautaud, Sean Derose (step-son), daughter Giovannah Isabelle Liautaud, No matter where life took them, they always knew they could count on their father for advice, encouragement, or sometimes a joke when they needed one most.

Lou had a remarkable gift for languages. He could move between conversations with ease, speaking to people from different backgrounds and making everyone feel comfortable and understood. Some people spoke one language fluently; Lou seemed determined to speak to everybody in theirs. Even when he didn’t know all the words, somehow he still managed to communicate—and usually make people laugh in the process.

And laughter was one of his greatest gifts. Lou had a way of brightening every room he entered. He could find humor in everyday situations and had a talent for making people smile, even during difficult times. Whether he was telling stories, teasing his friends, or sharing one of his famous jokes, he reminded us not to take life too seriously. Many of us are probably smiling right now remembering a joke, a story, or a moment that only Lou could have created.

He was also a man who cared deeply about others. If someone needed help, Lou was often one of the first to offer it. Whether it was helping a friend, giving advice, sharing what he had, or simply being present when someone needed company, he believed that kindness was something to be practiced, not just spoken about.

His friendships lasted for many years because he understood something important: life is not measured by the number of years we live, but by the relationships we build and the love we share. The many people gathered here today are a testament to the impact he had on the lives of others.

Although we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived. We celebrate a father who loved his children wholeheartedly, a husband who cherished his family, a friend who could always be counted on, and a man whose laughter will continue to echo in our memories.

If Lou could speak to us today, he probably would not want us sitting around being sad for too long. He would likely crack a joke, tell us to take care of one another, and remind us that life is precious. He would want us to remember the good times, laugh at the stories, and continue living with the same warmth and generosity that he showed every day.

In Addition to his deceased parents, Clio is survived by his brother Lionel Liautaud , his sisters Nicole Liautaud Poitevien, Nerlande Liautaud, Michelle Liautaud, Chantale Liautaud Olivier, his sister in-law Yvette Liautaud, his brothers in-law Serge Poitevien, Fritz St-Hubert, Luciano Olivier and the late Clodel Gauthier.

He often expressed his affections for his Nephews and his 2 Nieces, the late Jean Marc Olivier, Henri F. St-Hubert (Jerry), Bernhard H. (Binou) Poitevien and family, Alain P. Poitevien and family, Steeve L. St-Hubert, Jean Paul St-Hubert, Clifford Liautaud, Jeff Liautaud, Luc Alain Liautaud and family, Valerie A.Gauthier, Rachelle Olivier and family.

Jean Clio was deeply loved by his extended relatives and friends. Just to name a few; his cousins Jean & Jocelyne Liautaud & family, Gilbert Liautaud & Family, Gessie Liautaud & family, Lionel & Natacha Liautaud & family, Marie Nerlande Liautaud & family, Carlo Liautaud & family, Ronald Liautaud & family. As we say goodbye to Lou today, let us carry forward the lessons he taught us: love your family, treasure your friends, help those in need, and never miss an opportunity to make someone smile. Rest peacefully, Lou. Thank you for the love, the laughter, and the memories. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
