Irwin Hugh Richards, affectionately known to his friends as “Richie”, was born March 3rd, 1938 and transitioned on June 28th, 2021.
Born in Trinidad, West Indies, in the beautiful village of Lopinot Valley, he was the son of Albert Richards and Laurencia Quash. Irwin was the youngest of 10 children. He was the brother to the late Pepe, Rita, Roderick, Bertley, Eugene, Angie, Myrtle, Hilda, George and survived by sister Sandrine.
Irwin followed the love of his life Emris Burroughs and migrated to the United States in August, 1970. They were married on May 15th ,1971. Out of that union came two beautiful children. Irwin and Emris recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Irwin secured a job at Interfaith Hospital located on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn where he worked himself up through the ranks as Supervisor and retired after 18 years. After full retirement he dedicated himself to the love of his life, his family and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Emris Richards; his children Joel and Kathy Ann; his daughter-in-law Malissa; his grandchildren Rumeal, Josiah and Bria; his nieces Melona, Joyce, Yvonne, Deann and nephews; Ansley, Neil, Kenth, and a hosts of other nieces; nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
