Horace Nathaniel Brinsdon Smith Obituary

Horace "Junior" N. B. Smith, was born on April, 29 1943 in Pembroke, Bermuda. He peacefully passed away on November 13, 2023 at the age of 80. He was the third child of Horace Augustus Smith and Gwyneth De Silva.

Raised in Bermuda, Horace attended Central School (Victor Scott School) and Bermuda Technical Institute. Embracing the family trade, he started developing his exceptional carpentry skills—a passion that would shape his life. His craftsmanship can still be admired in the many creations that reside within his family home. An adept and meticulous carpenter, Horace's work was a testament to his dedication and skill.

Horace embarked on a transformative odyssey to the United States, immersing himself in academia at Friarburg High School and subsequently earning his Associate's Degree at Dean Junior College. Upon his return to Bermuda, he seamlessly integrated into his father's carpentry enterprise. After a fruitful period of honing his skills, he ventured back to New York City, delving into the realm of radiologic technology. This scholarly pursuit paved the way for a rewarding career at Brooklyn Jewish [Interfaith Medical Center], where destiny intervened, and he encountered the captivating Ruth Manning-whose allure captivated his heart from their initial meeting.

Horace was more than a skilled craftsman and professional; he was a loving husband to Ruth and a devoted father to his daughters Crystol (predeceased), Simone, Stacy, and Phedra. As well as a Grandfather of two. He is also survived by his sister Lillian and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will all deeply feel the void left by his passing.

An intelligent man of many interests, Horace had a love for jeopardy and reading. He enjoyed sharing these passions with loved ones, often hosting lively BBQs and gatherings that brought joy to all who attended. In addition to this, Horace was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in casting his line alongside friends and family. His love for fishing became a cherished pastime, creating lasting memories that will forever be held dear.

In remembering Horace, we recall his infectious smiles, kind words, and the sound, solid advice he offered to those around him. His wisdom will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
