Herbert Milton Furrs Obituary

Herbert Milton Furrs, the eldest son of Herbert Furrs and Mary Brown Furrs, was born on March 23, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York.  As a child, Herbert attended Kelly’s Temple Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord along with his family.  As an adult, he briefly attended America Come Back to God Evangelistic Church, Inc. in Brooklyn under the leadership of his uncle, (the late) Bishop Wallace Furrs.

Herbert attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn. During this time, he and his cousins worked alongside his uncle, (the late) Bishop Joseph Brown who at that time owned a construction company.  Years later, Herbert became employed by Metro-North Railroad for over twenty-five years.  He was still working until he was hospitalized.

Herbert was preceded in death by his beloved father, Deacon Herbert Furrs, and his sweet mother, Sister Mary Furrs.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his brother Dwayne; his sister Janice; his daughters: Ayshia, La’Donna, Shante and Charquaina; his son Raeqwon; one son-in-law Dominique; six grandchildren: Omari, Isaiah, Elijah, Azariah, Uriah and Amir; one niece Latesha; one nephew Dwayne, Jr.; his uncles: Pastor Ulysses Furr, Pastor Sam Brown, Pastor Lewis Brown, Deacon James Brown, Phillip Brown, Ulysses Brown and Bishop Samuel Brown; aunts: Ella Mae McLain, Geraldine Furrs, Shirley Furrs, Elizabeth Jackson, Annetta Brown, Gertrude Brown, Mary Brown, Theresa Brown, Joyce Moody-Guyton, Katherine Brown and Karen Brown; his special cousins: Earl Hines, Keith Johnson, George Jackson, Bobby Brown and Angela Furrs; and a host of other cousins, extended family and friends.

A Daughter’s Tribute

Herbert Furrs was known as Mick or Nick by his friends.  My father was a serious but funny guy; he loved sports, music and Bar-B-Ques.  My father also loved to dress nice and always had the latest sneakers.  He was a cool dude!  One thing I know, is that he loved the Lord.

You will be truly missed.  Daddy, I will always be your Keyto.

Love your oldest,

Ayshia
