Glenwood Allen Williams

September 14, 1958 ~ January 8, 2020 (age 61)

Obituary

Glenwood Allen Williams was the oldest of 3 children born to James A. Williams and the late Julia A. Williams. He made his entrance into this world on September 14th, 1958 and departed on January 8th, 2020.

Glen was born in Brooklyn but spent his summers farming with his grandmothers, uncles, aunts and cousins in North Carolina.

Glen received his education in the New York City public school system. He began working at a very young age to support his passion for fashion.

Glen loved sports and when he was younger, he could often be found on the basketball court or in front of the television cheering for his favorite team. After playing the field in the game of love, his heart was won over by the late Shirley (Sloan) Williams who he married in 1980. They had a very special bond and she literally became his right hand.

Glen began his career with the New York City Department of Social Services in 1981 and later transferred to the New York City Department of Homeless Services.

Glen made many changes in his life, one of those changes was joining the Fraternal order of Freemasonry where he loved learning and teaching members the importance of constantly striving to make yourself a better person through hard work and diligence.

He leaves to cherish his memories his father James A. Williams, his brother Salvatore (Bernadette) Williams, his mother-in-law Rosie Sloan, his brother-in-law James P. Middleton, his nephews Jasiem L. Williams, Jaquan D. (Tenkela) Williams & Justice M. Williams, his nieces Ashley T. Niles, Keyana J. Williams & Julia K. Williams, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Julia A. Williams and his sister Pamelia Middleton. Glen will always be loved and will be missed dearly by all.
