Freddie Lee Walthour Obituary

Deacon Freddie Lee Walthour, the oldest of twelve children, was born on July 13, 1943 in Riceboro, Georgia to (the late) Cato Walthour and Annie Mae Williams Walthour.  The Lord called Deacon Walthour home on Saturday, February 6, 2021 while he was in The Brooklyn Hospital.

Deacon Walthour was educated in the Liberty County High School system in Midway, Georgia.   He met and married Mary Lee Simmons on June 19, 1966. They had one son, Jimmy.  Deacon Walthour  and Mary  resided in Brooklyn, New York where he had been a faithful member of Universal Baptist Church since 1961 -- first under the leadership of Rev. Carter N. Pope who ordained him as a Deacon. Deacon Walthour continued to serve as an Usher and Deacon for many more years under the leadership of  Rev. Dr. James R. Green, Jr.

Deacon Freddie Walthour and Mary were married for fifty-five years, and he was a faithful and dedicated husband, father, godfather and uncle.  He was an excellent provider for his family, and took joy in spending quality time with them, especially being with his wife and taking her where she needed or wanted to go, supporting her activities and enjoying the life that they built together.  He particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and godchildren, taking them to the park, teaching them to ride their bikes and having lunch together.

Deacon Walthour was not an avid sports fan, but he loved watching WWF (World Wrestling Federation), today known as the WWE, with his faithful wife, Mary.  Often, you would find him and Mary watching wrestling and other programs that they both enjoyed together.

Deacon Walthour leaves to cherish his memory, his dear wife Deaconess Mary Walthour; his son Jimmy; his grandchildren: Terrell, Shameeka, Andre and Tyrone; his siblings: Jennifer (and George) Earnest, John Ellis Walthour (of Bellwood, Illinois), Larry (and Shirley) Walthour, Leeann (and Dan) Williams (of Hinesville, Georgia), Cato, Jr. (and Edna) Walthour, Troy (and Blanche) Walthour,  Nathaniel  (and Brenda) Walthour, Michael (and Jackie) Walthour, Curly Walthour, and Novadane Saller (of Riceburg, Georgia); his brother-in-law George Simmons; his sisters-in-law: Geneva Simmons (of Hinesville, Georgia),  Curly Walthour (of Riceboro, Georgia) and Hattie Mathis (of Brooklyn, New York); his godson Jordan Leake (of Somerset, New Jersey); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family  and friends.
