Mrs. Eugene Agatha Harris Harper, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. Born in Saint Lucy, Barbados, to James and Adossa (Greaves) Harris, she was the sixth of seven children.

Eugene trained in homemaking arts in Barbados and later pursued a nursing career in the U.S. and Canada, earning her Master’s degree while working full-time. She worked for many years at Brooklyn Hospital and was known for her expert care and compassion.

A devoted wife to Ralph Emerson Harper (deceased, 2002), Eugene was also a beloved aunt, cousin, and matriarch. Her life was defined by faith, love, and service to others.

She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Jasper Randolph Harris. Survived by her sisters in law Yvonne Harris and Ms. Leila Haper-Williams, as well as her niece Angela Harris, nephews Brian (Michelle) and Carl Harris, great-nieces Janaiya and Brianna, great-nephew Kaden.

Eugene leaves behind cousins Brenda Greaves-King, Lorna Greaves -Ajala, Sheila Greaves, Sherwin Johnson, Dr. Heather Harris, Mr. Wayne (Angelique) Harris and family, Mr. David (Jennifer) Harris and family; her goddaughters Maureen Edwards and Lenore Bynoe as well as relatives Marcia Vas Greaves.

Among her cherished friends, Eugene leaves her “heart daughter Mandy Heifetz and her daughter Sofie; Rosemary Cuffrey, John Cuffrey (and the Cuffrey family); Sherma Phillips; Harriet Griffith; Clyde Bowen; Estelle Sims; Terry (Kay) Cadogan and family as well as Grace Anwana and family.
