Edna Janet Langston began life in Gatesville, North Carolina in 1922. She came from a family of 4 sisters and 3 brothers. At the age of 19, she began her journey to New York City in search of a better life with her Aunt Janet. She worked cleaning homes and became friends with another cleaner who unbeknownst to her would become her future sister-in-law. She was introduced to her friend's brother, Benjamin Fenderson, who she married in 1946. While living in Brooklyn, they grew a family of 2 girls and 2 boys-- Jacqueline, Linda, Thomas and Benjamin Jr.
Edna was a loving and caring mother who devoted her life to her husband, her children and to God and the church. Her love of God inspired her to teach religion to young children at St. Gertrude’s parish in Far Rockaway, Queens. She lived her everyday life as a devout Christian and never questioned her faith.
Edna is survived by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and a wealth of great grandchildren. She will be painfully missed for her love and attention, but we take solace knowing she is in God’s hands and joining her siblings who have passed on in His kingdom.
