Diana Joyce Washington was born on June 15, 1945, to the late Althea and David Washington Sr. in Brooklyn, NY. On May 13, 2026, Diana was called home by God to join him in his kingdom.
Diana was raised in Brooklyn with her siblings. She attended Franklin K. Lane High School and then went to Old Boys High to acquire skills to become a secretary. She attended New Faith Community Baptist Church, where she became an usher and received her Baptism.
Diana was a great and wonderful woman who lived her life advocating for children in the public school system. She was on the PTA Committee as well as the PACT Committee and attended UFT Meetings to push for programs for schools and children in special education to ensure they received the proper education they deserved. While advocating for children, she helped anyone and everyone who needed assistance with the board of education, helping support them by giving advice and connecting them with whoever they needed to talk to.
Diana Washington was well-loved and made an impact on everyone whose life she entered. She volunteered for many years in Head Start and public schools, as well as junior high schools where her grandchildren attended. She found her home when she became a school aide at P.S. 5 in Brooklyn, where she continued her journey, still advocating and helping children and parents in the community.
Diana Washington leaves behind 3 children: Walter W. Wilson, Lorraine Wilson-Daymon, Victoria Wilson-Stinson, and 2 siblings, Pearl Washington and Keith Riley, and 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, and great nieces and nephews, and great nephews and friends.
