Cecilia Louise Asforis

Cecilia Asforis, aged 72, peacefully transitioned on June 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful memories.

Born on September 27, 1953, in Colón, Panama, she migrated to Brooklyn, New York, with her sister, Janice, at the age of five. She was raised in the vibrant Bushwick section of Brooklyn, the place that shaped her spirited and authentic approach to life. Later, she settled in New Castle, Delaware.

Cecilia's education began at St. Martin of Tours, followed by

Prospect High School, before she went on to graduate from the prestigious Pratt Institute. With a sharp mind and an exceptional work ethic, she enjoyed a long, respected career at the New York Telephone Company. Her colleagues highly valued her expertise as a Computer Tech Specialist in the Maxi Computer Operations department, the role from which she eventually retired.

To her siblings, Cecilia was a constant source of love and strength. She was the cherished sister of Janice, Lucy, and her brother Harry. Through every chapter of life, Cecilia was the ultimate anchor for Janice, Lucy, and Harry. Her relationship with her sister, Janice, was that of an absolute best friend—a rare and beautiful gift shaped by a lifetime of inside jokes, shared secrets, and unwavering support. Cecilia possessed a rare ability to truly understand, support, and connect with the feelings of her siblings. This foundational empathy made her an irreplaceable confidante and the perfect sister.

Cecilia was a woman of immense integrity and honesty. She was entirely consistent in her actions, fiercely trustworthy, and unapologetically authentic. Her word was her bond, and her genuine nature created a solid, unwavering foundation for every relationship she held. When she wasn't lifting those around her, Cecilia found immense joy in her quiet passions. Her time at Pratt reflected her creativity; she was a talented artist who expressed her unique perspective through drawing, as well as an avid reader who loved exploring new worlds through books.

She is survived by her devoted sisters, Janice Holt and Lucy Asforis, and her brother, Harry Asforis, along with her nephews, Etienne Ian Holt and Andre Rasheek Waltower; her great-niece, Nyree Janiece Holt, and her great-nephews, Andre Demetrius Waltower, Jr., Alim Jovan Waltower, and Asan Unique Waltower; her cousin Evon Asforis, including her extended family and many lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosita Melise Asforis and Lionel Altinor Asforis.

Though Cecilia is no longer with us, the beautiful bond she shared with her siblings, family, and friends will endure forever. Her laughter will echo in our memories, and her love will remain our guiding light.
