Brenda Baldwin Obituary

Brenda Joyce Baldwin was born June 17, 1958 to (the late) Wiley Oscar Baldwin and Mary Magglene Taylor Baldwin Hicks in Brooklyn, New York.  She was the first-born girl child of that union.

Brenda was educated in the New York City public school system -- P.S.9, Rothschild, and Bay Ridge High School, graduating from both Hunter College and Pace University.  Her love of education and caring for people led her to complete her Nurse Practitioner degree fulfilling her life-long career.

Early on in her life, Brenda accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior.  As a child, Brenda attended Galilee Baptist Church in Brooklyn.  She later joined St. Paul Community Baptist Church where she was on the Council of Wise Jewels (women’s leadership), and continued her membership at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where she taught “Basic Bible” and “Women of the Bible” in the Christian Education Boot Camp ministry, and also served with “Los Amables” (ushers’ ministry).

Brenda was loved by everyone she came in contact with.  She will always be remembered for her genuine and compassionate personality.  We will also never forget her red lipstick and her beautiful afro.

Brenda loved to travel, visiting many countries and every state the Air Force sent her only son Brendan.  Her love of her community was shown and felt through her commitment and dedication to helping everybody, and this filled her heart with joy and touched the lives of many.

The center of her heart was her grandchildren.  The bond they shared was inseparable and irreplaceable.  She didn’t miss a day Facetiming her daughter-in-love Starr so the grands could see their “Granny”.

Though preceded in glory by her father and mother: Wiley and Mary Baldwin, her two brothers: Wiley Eugene and Anthony Michael, Brenda is survived by her only son Brendan Menelik O’Neal (Wynelle Starr), grandchildren: Elijah Michael, Isaiah Matthew, Moriah Grace and Micaiah Menelik; her sister Tracey Rene’ (Thomas Lee Ragin); nieces: Renee, Yolanda Renee, and Trinity Taylor; nephews: Bruce Michael and Kevin Oscar; great-nieces: Sidni Antoinette, Sierra Marie and Mamie-Marie; great-nephew Bernard Lewis; great-great-nephews: Jacob Lewis, Josiah Maurice and Marquel Juelz; and a host of cousins, other extended family, neighbors, church family, and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
