Anthony "Tony" Ginn was born on March 10, 1959 to Randolph
Ginn and (the late) Sarah Ginn (nee Johnson) in Brooklyn, New York. Tony attended Public School 284, Junior High School 263, James Madison High School, Sullivan County Community College, and Kingsborough Community College.
At an early age, Tony exhibited an interest in and natural ability for sports. This included softball, football, and his passion – basketball -- which he played throughout his academic years. After Sullivan Community College, Tony enlisted in the United States Army, assigned to the First Cavalry Division. He received his Honorable Discharge as a Corporal First Class.
Shortly after returning home, Tony began working for New York City Transit Authority, remaining there until the time of his passing.
Tony was a modest and giving person; quality was his thing -- whether it be jewelry, clothing, furniture, electronics, or friends.
He enjoyed family, friends, good music, dancing, watching and talking about sports. Some of his best times were spent at Brownsville's Annual Old Timers’ Day. There, he would catch up with old friends and reminisce about the "good old days.
Tony was admitted to the hospital on Friday, April 2, 2021 and transitioned on Thursday, April 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Sarah, and his sister Annette (“Nette”). He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Lamarr; his daughter Kylie; his father Randolph; his sister Antoinette; two grandsons: Lexus and Dylan; two granddaughters: Kaitlyn and Brianna; three nieces: Monique, Jasmin, and Vernilla; three nephews: Kamel, Keith, and Ja'quan; his uncles: Robert (Dorothy) and Louis (Ann); his aunts: Alberta, Nancy and Deloris; his loving girlfriend Michelle and her family, Linda, Brandon, Lamar and Lakai; along with a host of very special cousins, other family members and friends.
