Annetta Coburn was born on October 6, 1952 in Scooba, MS. Annetta wasn't alone as she entered the world with her sister Bernetta to Pearl Casenave and father, LC Coburn. When she was 7 years old she moved to Brooklyn, NY with her mother Pearl and twin sister Bernetta. Annetta was driven by faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and a was member of Hunter Temple AME Zion Church in Brooklyn, NY, where she was also a member of the choir. She entered elementary school at P.S. 20 in Brooklyn, NY. From there she went to Rothchild Middle School and continued her education at Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, NY. In high school she took an interest in doing hair and began crafting her skills by doing friends and families hair. When she finished high school she went to Wilfred Beauty Academy where she received her cosmetology degree. In 1974, she gave birth to her 1st of 2 daughters with Leroy Spriggs, Dollena V. Coburn. In the following year she opened her own business named Annetta's Beauty Salon. A few years later in 1980, she gave birth to her second daughter Edwina Coburn-Spriggs. As her business began to grow and thrive so did her family. She had two sons with Donald J Mason Sr., John Mason in 1986 and Jonathan Mason in 1997. She occasionally attended service at the Church of the Open Door in Brooklyn, NY. In 2008 she became a grandmother to Josiah Hazell. Annetta retired from being a beautician and moved to Mississippi in 2017 with her sister Edna Dale and just a year ago welcomed her second grandchild, Quincy Mason.
Annetta departed this life to live forever with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday May 9th 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted children Dollena Coburn and Edwina Coburn-Spriggs of Brooklyn, NY , John Mason of Washington DC, and Jonathan Mason of Monmouth Junction, NJ Grandchildren Josiah Hazell and Quincy Mason. Six sisters, Edna Dale of Scooba MS and Bernetta Whiteside and her husband Timothy of Newark NJ. Rosie Lee Williams of Noxapater, MS, Alice Murray and her husband James of Noxapater MS, Mattie and Bobbie Coburn of Jackson MS. Three brothers John Coburn and his wife Lestine of St. Louis, MO, Larry Coburn and wife Bernetta of Noxapater MS, Paul Coburn and his wife Cornelia of Louisville MS, Two sister in laws, Beatrice and Helene Casenave of Brooklyn, NY. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
