Alma Agatha Murphy Obituary

Alma Agatha George, affectionately known as “Cutie”, was born on March 11, 1927 to (the late) Hugh George and Lucy Walker of Tela, Honduras in Central America. She was the youngest of nine siblings and graduated from Anglican Public School in Tela, Honduras. She immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1956. Alma attended Stuyvesant Heights Christian Church in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1959 she married Keith Murphy of Belize.  She worked as a custodian for more than two decades in the New York City Family Court. Upon retirement, she and Keith relocated to Miami, Floida. She was known for her kindness and hospitality. Alma was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. As the Caribbean saying goes “she can really put her foot in it”. Her passion included gardening, playing cards and sewing. She really enjoyed going on cruises and casino trips. She was an avid music lover and a wonderful dancer. She liked to keep her surroundings clean and kept a spotless house. She put her heart and soul into whatever she did. Alma was an extremely generous soul and a very kindhearted person. Alma will be greatly missed and dearly remembered for these priceless attributes.
