Alex Jean Cormier was born in the borough of Brooklyn, New York to his parents, Anite Massac Cormier and Jacques Cormier, Sr. on Saturday, August 21, 1965. He departed this world on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
Alex was educated in the New York City public school system, attending Public School 91, Intermediate School 722 and graduating from George W. Wingate High School in 1983. Upon graduation, he attended Baruch College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
While attending college, Alex worked various jobs until he landed a position with Moody’s Investors Service/Dun & Bradstreet Company where he performed numerous functions during his tenure with the organization.
While employed at Moody’s, Alex always felt compelled to find a way to be of service to his community, and was fortunate enough to be accepted on February 12, 2004 in his new extended family -- the City of New York Department of Correction where he worked on Rikers Island as a Corrections Officer for eighteen years.
Alex was intensely introspective, but once you had the pleasure of knowing him, he had a warm and friendly personality with a very big heart, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a diehard fan of both the New York Knicks and the New York Yankees, and had a true love for fishing which gave him great joy. His departure was indeed way too soon. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.
He leaves to mourn and share in his memory, his mother and father, Anite and Jacques, Sr.; his brothers: Jacques, Jr. and Roland; his sisters-in-law: Cheryl and Dakota; his nieces: Chelsea and Candace; his grandmother Françoise Paul (age 106); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and dear friends.
