Vernel Weeks, 54, entered into eternal peace on Monday, November 5th, 2018. Vernel was born on April 2nd 1964 in Brooklyn, New York to Maxine Mosley and (the late) John H. Weeks, Jr. As a young man, Vernel was very driven to succeed. Educated in the public schools of New York City, he graduated from high school in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.
He went on to earn his Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from New York City Technical College. Employed as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Vernel worked for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of New York City for twenty-four years.
Vernel was a very kind and gentle soul. Never one to raise his voice, he had a “matter-of-fact” way of letting you know what he meant. Considered a work-a-holic by family, at work is where he spent most of his time. He was also a lover of nature and beautiful scenery. One of his treasured hobbies was photography, and the love of technology ran a very close second. He enjoyed movies too, and was quite a movie buff.
Vernel was preceded in death by his father, John Weeks in 1996; his brother Derrick Weeks in 1995; his brother Vernon Weeks in 2003; and his brother Antonio L. Overton in 2016.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his loving mother, Maxine Mosley; his sisters: Robin, Natalie, Emily, Stephanie and Kimberly; two brothers: Gregory and Tony; a host of adoring nieces and nephews, one great-niece, two best friends: Freddie and Wally; other family members and friends who will miss him dearly!
