Thena White was born on November 3, 1937 to the late Mamie Pearl White and the late Canary W. White, Sr. She entered eternal life on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. after a brief illness.
She attended public schools in Washington County and was a 1956 graduate of T. J. Elder High School in Sandersville, Ga. Her gift for cosmetology was shown at an early age and she was known for giving beautiful and memorable hair styles for all ages. She really enjoyed the camaraderie and support of her customers as well as attending various hair shows in metropolitan New York and New Jersey.
Thena also loved her family and friends very much. She was proud to be a devoted Mother and Grandmother. Coming home to visit her family in Georgia was something she always looked forward to.
Her hobbies included listening to gospel music, watching Christian TV, sewing and comedy programs.
She loved the Lord and loved to worship him. She was a faithful member of Washington Temple Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, NY for many years. Thena joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Canary W. White Jr., and Marion White; one sister; Ms. Evelyn Lane.
Thena leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter: Rashida White; two grandsons: Gregg White-Crawford and Greysen Crawford; one brother: Milton White; four sisters: Christine Blackwell, Doris White, Eunice White and Yvonne White-Plummer, one aunt: Ms. Geneva Cumming, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
