Janet Bailey Obituary

Born in Birmingham, England on July 18, 1967, Janet was the 4th oldest child of loving parents, Ruel and Linda Bailey. Her parents migrated from Jamaica to England in March 1965. Her older siblings Michael (Mikey), Hilary (Dimple) and Marva (Debbie) were born in Jamaica and her younger siblings Steven and Paulette were born in England. The family migrated from England to the United States in October of 1984.

Janet graduated from Bishop Milner High School in England. She worked at various jobs including home health care. For the past almost 20 years, Janet has served as a Host for the Marriott Hotel Industry. Janet was a fun loving, understanding, giving and kindhearted person. She was a caregiver and some of her favorite things to do included cooking, traveling, she loved boat rides and spending time with her close friends. She loved to watch her favorite shows on the Oprah Winfrey OWN network and call her friends to talk about them.
Janet was and will forever be a beautiful soul. Her loving and caring demeanor: spread to those she encountered while here on earth. With such a kind heart and; easy mind Janet also felt a certain responsibility to help others in need. Whether it was helping people less fortunate with clothing or food assistance, she never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Although she may no longer be here physically, her spirit, her positive energy and her compassion still live on through her family and friends.

Now, that being said Janet was no Punk and she had no problem expressing exactly how she felt! She didn’t like “foolishness”. The amount of times, that girl sucked her teeth, shook her head, gave a side eye and blew out a heavy breath is way too numerous to count.... and don’t think because you had a title you were better than her. Her co-workers said her favorite saying was “You’re not more than me……”

Janet was a firm believer in the Word of God and she not only walked in His faith but also spread His word to people who sought guidance in times of both worry and need. Several years ago Janet developed Lupus, a disease which attacks your immune system and even with the changes to her body, through it all she remained a faithful fighter and a believer in God. John 14 vs 27 (KJV) reads: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” On Saturday, August 31st, God called one of his beloved children home to be with Him. Janet….. a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend….. and now an Angel.

Janet was preceded in death by her beautiful Mother, Linda (2006). She leaves to mourn her passing her Father, Ruel; her brothers Michael (Mikey) and Steven, her sisters Hilary (Dimple), Marva (Debbie) and Paulette; her nephews Christopher, Anthony, Ethan, Ruben, Darius, Andrew, Ziyon; her nieces Star, Desiree, Destiny, Diamond, her childhood best friend of almost 40 years, Merlin Benain (England), her super special Sister-Friends (family) Beverly and Carmen, her Marriott Marquis Family as well as a host of other cousins, relatives, loved ones and friends.

The entire Bailey Family wishes to express our deepest appreciation and sincere thanks for all the acts of kindness shown to us during our time of sorrow. The family asks that you honor Janet by supporting the Lupus Foundation of America and by cherishing each day as if it were your last...
