On September 25, 1951 in St. George, Barbados, the Almighty Father blessed Erlene Moore and Garfield Evelyn with a son Armel Simeon Moore, better known as "Sweet Sons" or "Dads". He joined the family of four brothers and three sisters, which later became four sisters. Armel attended St. George's Boys School in Barbados, West Indies.
In 1972, Armel immigrated to the United States of America and joined his family in Brooklyn, New York. Three years later, on October 4, 1975, Armel married Gloria Ingram and began his own family. He worked for Pan Am and Delta Airlines before moving on and working for the New York City Transit Authority (MTA) as a bus driver for more than thirty years.
In 1976, Armel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and joined the Greater Friendship Baptist Church family. He was baptized and became a devoted member of the Church. He was ordained a Deacon in 1978 and had served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for the last forty years. Deacon Moore would often be found working at the Church in various capacities, and was always available to assist family and friends in any situation.
On Saturday, June 16, 2018, Deacon Armel Moore became absent from the body and present with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory, his wife Gloria; his son Armel Shawn; his grandson Armel Keith; three sisters: Celestine Moore, Esther Brereton and Janice Moore; his brother Clyde Moore; a brother-in-law Carl Brereton; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, godchildren, other relatives and friends from all over the world, and his Greater Friendship Baptist Church Family.
