Carolyn Patricia Drayton

Carolyn Patricia Drayton, 71 years old, passed away at New York Presbyterian Weil Cornell Hospital on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 with her loving family by her side, following a five-year battle with uterine cancer.  She will be deeply missed by friends, family and all who knew her.

Carolyn was born on September 9, 1947 to Carrie Payne and Francis Jackson in Washington, D.C.  She was the last of her parents’ five children.  The family later transitioned to Elkton, Maryland where Carolyn attended school and graduated from North East High School on June 14, 1965.

Carolyn relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she later met Sinclair Drayton who is originally from Panama. The couple entered into holy matrimony in April 1967, and were married for fifty-one years.  Carolyn and Sinclair were the parents of four children.

Carolyn was employed with several companies over the years. Administrative roles were held at the following corporations: AT&T, Chase Bank and Environmental Protection Agency.

Carolyn was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved the Lord and attended Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.

Carolyn is survived by her spouse Sinclair Drayton; her children: Sinette, Shana and Sinclair, Jr. ("Buddy”); nine grandchildren, two great-¬grandchildren, her sister Francine Hatton; her brothers: Alfonso Shepard and Robert Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter Stacy Drayton and her brother Charles Shepard.
