At the golden age of 82, Aubrey George Royal peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.
Aubrey was born on August 26, 1936 in Elliot, St. Mary, Jamaica. Aubrey was one of twelve children born to (the late) Samuel and Euphema Royal. He attended Elliot Elementary school, where he excelled academically. After the sudden passing of his parents, Aubrey was propelled into a life of responsibility, where he became a hard worker in order to provide for his family at an early age. He relocated to Kingston at the age of 18 to attend trade school, where he developed and honed his skills in masonry and carpentry.
Aubrey met and married his late wife Enid Rattray in the mid-eighties; he later migrated to New York City, United States in 1989. While living in New York, Aubrey was a member of the New York State Laborers’ Union, Local 79, where he continued to work in the construction field for McCarthy Masonry Company. Aubrey retired early at the age of 62, to assist in the care of his late wife. After retirement, Aubrey served as a deacon and custodian at Duryea Presbyterian Church where he was a faithful member for over 30 years.
