Patricia Elaine Williams was born on September 30, 1947 to Eloise Covington and James Ellison in Brooklyn, New York. When Patricia was three months old, her mother decided Patricia should be brought up in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
Patricia was raised by her aunt and uncle whom she affectionately called Mama and Daddy. Patricia grew up in a God-fearing household filled with love and fun as well as strong discipline. She attended Marlboro Elementary School and East Side High School. She enjoyed high school very much evident by her participation in school activities; her most noted school participation was when she was a majorette appearing in the town’s festivals and parades. She also provided secretarial notes while attending the Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. After graduating high school in May 1965 at the age of eighteen, Patricia relocated back to her birthplace of New York City. She secured employment with New York Telephone Company and retired in 1994. After retiring, she worked part-time at the U.S. Postal Service.
Patricia also joined the Faith Chapel Baptist Church of which she was an active member until her illness in 2017 prevented her from continuing. She held many positions in the Church, and will always be remembered as a faithful and dedicated parishioner who was responsible for maintaining the vitality of the Church during difficult times. She never asked for praise, for THE WORK SHE DID SPOKE TO WHO SHE WAS -- a proclaimed child of God. She was known to help those in need by acting the part of a daughter, doing everything she could to make people feel comfortable. She was also a very active member in her community’s senior center where she participated in a host of activities, from attending fitness classes to cooking for various events and taking computer courses.
