Mildred Colouise Wicker was born on September 25, 1923 to (the late) Olden Boyd and Pearl Miller Boyd. She attended Prospect High School in Newberry, South Carolina. She went on to attend college where she played women’s basketball and won a couple of Silver Cups.
She worked as a shoemaker and later went into nursing. Mildred was a phenomenal woman. She raised a village of neighborhood children, and was loved by many. She was a selfless woman and helped anyone she could.
On Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the age of ninety-four, Mildred departed this life. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Wicker; and three of her children: Danny Wicker, David Wicker and Valerie Wicker; but leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her surviving children: Ernest Wicker, Jr., Ella Jane Moore and Brenda Wicker-Bullock; four brothers: Tee, Nort, Al and Robert; six sisters: Lee, May, Pearl, Bernice, Dorothy and Beck; eighteen grandchildren: Danny, Michael, Siemone, Kendell, Tracy, Raymond, Maleek, Raymel, ShaQuanna, Morrice, Kaylin, Lorraine, Sharon, Evie, Travina, Eric, Ernie and Eddie; nine great-grandchildren: Tyanna, Havier, Kendell, Jr., Khaliel, Karon, Kantinese, Meaghan, Saraye and London: two sons-in-law: Thomas Moore and Leonard Bullock; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Mildred was one of God’s best!
